Famous KFC Coleslaw Classic

A creamy, tangy, and subtly sweet coleslaw that captures the iconic taste of KFC, perfect as a side dish for fried chicken or barbecues.

  • 65 g granulated sugar
  • 60 ml whole milk
  • 60 ml buttermilk
  • 38 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 22 ml distilled white vinegar
  • 3 g fine sea salt
  • 0.5 g ground black pepper
  • 800 g finely chopped green cabbage
  • 30 g shredded carrot
  • 20 g minced white onion

Instructions

  1. Start by finely chopping the green cabbage and carrots into a uniform, rice-sized consistency.
  2. Mince the white onion into small pieces to ensure even distribution in the coleslaw.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sugar, milk, buttermilk, lemon juice, vinegar, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Add the chopped cabbage, shredded carrot, and minced onion to the bowl.
  5. Use a spatula to mix thoroughly until all vegetables are evenly coated.
  6. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 120 minutes, or overnight for best flavor.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Chop vegetables finely for the best texture.
