Homemade Biscuits

Soft and flaky homemade biscuits with a buttery, slightly sweet flavor, perfect for breakfast or as a side dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed and very cold
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons cold buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C).
  2. Combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the cold buttermilk and honey; fold gently until just combined.
  5. Pat the dough out to about 1-inch thickness on a floured surface.
  6. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out circles and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 18–20 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

For extra flaky biscuits, use very cold butter. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
