Creamy Garlic Butter Chicken

This Creamy Garlic Butter Chicken features tender chicken in a rich, silky sauce with a buttery and garlicky flavor, perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter (divided)
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (optional, for dredging)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Dredge in flour if desired.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil and half the butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. When the butter stops foaming, add the chicken and sear until golden, about 5 to 6 minutes per side.
  3. Remove the chicken and set aside on a plate. Lower the heat to medium.
  4. Add the remaining butter and the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds.
  5. Add the chicken broth, scraping any browned bits from the pan, and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Pour in the heavy cream and simmer until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  7. Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon sauce over each piece. Heat through for 2 minutes.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

Pat the chicken dry before seasoning for better browning. If the sauce becomes too thick, stir in a splash of chicken broth.
