Pizza Grilled Cheese

Indulge in this delightful Pizza Grilled Cheese, a perfect marriage of ooey-gooey cheese and savory pepperoni with a burst of garlic and Italian herbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, very soft
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 8 slices white bread
  • 12 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 6 ounces pepperoni
  • Warm pizza sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Combine the softened butter, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning in a medium-sized bowl. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  2. Spread the butter mixture evenly over one side of each slice of bread. Place the prepared bread slices butter side up on a sheet tray.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Take one slice of bread and place it butter side down in the skillet.
  4. Layer on one slice of mozzarella, followed by 6 slices of pepperoni. Add another slice of mozzarella, then 6 more slices of pepperoni, and finish with a final slice of mozzarella.
  5. Top with another slice of bread, butter side up. Cook until the bottom slice is golden brown, which should take about 3-5 minutes.
  6. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side until it is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
  7. Remove the sandwich from the skillet and repeat the process with the remaining ingredients to make additional sandwiches.
  8. Serve the Pizza Grilled Cheese immediately with warm pizza sauce for dipping.

Notes

For perfectly crispy grilled cheese, make sure your butter is softened, but not melted, before spreading it on the bread. Consider adding sautéed mushrooms or onions for extra flavor.
