Cheesesteak Meatloaf

A delightful fusion of cheesesteak and meatloaf that combines juicy ground beef and pork with flavorful vegetables and melted provolone cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/2 cup sliced roasted red peppers

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, green bell pepper, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix everything together until well combined.
  3. Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of a loaf pan, creating a solid base.
  4. Layer half of the provolone cheese, mushrooms, green onions, and roasted red peppers over this meat mixture.
  5. Spread the remaining meat mixture on top, pressing it down to seal the edges.
  6. Bake for 1 hour or until the meatloaf is cooked through.
  7. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining provolone cheese over the top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve slices alongside vegetables or mashed potatoes for a comforting meal.

Notes

For optimal flavor, let the meat mixture rest for about 15 minutes before baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
