Amish Sunday Savior Casserole

A warm and nostalgic Amish casserole featuring ground beef, tender vegetables, creamy mushroom soup, and topped with melted cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup carrots, sliced
  • 1 cup celery, sliced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups cooked egg noodles
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a casserole dish.
  2. Add the ground beef and chopped onion to a skillet over medium heat. Brown until the beef is cooked through and the onion is softened.
  3. Drain the excess fat from the skillet.
  4. Return the skillet to medium heat and add the sliced carrots, sliced celery, and frozen peas. Cook for about 5 minutes.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef and vegetable mixture with the cooked egg noodles and the cream of mushroom soup. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Pour the mixture into the greased casserole dish and spread it into an even layer. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  7. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Letting the casserole cool completely before storing helps maintain its quality. It reheats well.
