Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the Guinness beer and melted butter, then stir in the granulated sugar, eggs, and sour cream until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  5. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. To make the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add in the powdered sugar and mix in the Irish cream and heavy cream until smooth and fluffy.
