Family-Friendly Sausage and Egg Casserole

A comforting casserole featuring layers of fluffy eggs, savory sausages, and gooey cheese, perfect for family gatherings and any meal of the day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage (or turkey sausage)
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
  • 4 cups cubed bread (day-old bread works best)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned, about 5–7 minutes. Break into crumbles.
  3. Drain excess fat and set the sausage aside to cool slightly.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  5. Gently fold in the bread cubes, cooked sausage, and 1.5 cups of cheese into the egg mixture.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading evenly, and top with the remaining cheese.
  7. Bake for about 30–35 minutes, or until the casserole is set and the top is golden brown. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, swap the sausage for sautéed mushrooms or veggie sausage. Leftovers can be stored in airtight containers in the fridge for up to three days.
