Indulge in this delightful Chocolate Caramel Dump Cake, a perfect blend of rich chocolate and luscious caramel for gatherings or a cozy dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks or chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Chocolate shavings (optional)
  • Chopped nuts or toffee bits (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, whole milk, melted butter, baking powder, and sour cream. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well-combined.
  3. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  4. Drizzle the warm caramel sauce over the layer of batter, allowing it to spread slightly.
  5. Carefully spread the remaining batter over the caramel layer.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. While the cake is baking, prepare the ganache by heating the heavy cream in a small saucepan. Once hot, remove it from the heat and stir in the chocolate chunks until melted and smooth.
  8. After the cake has baked, allow it to cool for 10 minutes.
  9. Pour the ganache evenly over the cake, letting it drip down the sides, and garnish with chocolate shavings or chopped nuts if desired.
  10. Allow the ganache to set before slicing and serving.

Notes

Make sure not to overmix the batter. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
