Browned Butter Blondies

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, browned
  • 1 ½ cups brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Optional add-ins: Chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruits

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, stirring constantly until golden brown (about 4-5 minutes).
  2. Remove from heat and whisk in the brown sugar until combined and glossy.
  3. Let the mixture cool slightly, then add eggs one at a time, whisking vigorously after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. If using, fold in chocolate chips or nuts.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased or lined 9×9-inch baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until edges are golden.
  7. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

Store cooled blondies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. You can also freeze them for longer storage.
