Basic Butter Cookies

Delightful Basic Butter Cookies with a rich buttery flavor and a balance between crisp edges and a soft center.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and mix until fully incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt, then gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Using a cookie scoop, portion out dough balls about 1 inch in diameter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  7. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Freezing is also an option for longer storage.
